The Last Few Weeks

A lot has happened over the last few weeks. First, we met Chad's family at the ranch so that they could meet Hayes. Hayes and Grayson are seven months apart - it blew my mind how much older Grayson seemed than Hayes, so it will be fun to watch Hayes change over the next few months. Lou came to stay with us for a week. She was here during Halloween, so she got to see our little jack-o-latern. While she was here Lou and I got a wild hair to load up Hayes and take him to Jackson to meet the family. Hayes has begun to stay awake longer during the days, but still sleeps a ton. He now also smiles at us and follows us with his head if we walk across the room. Dustin kept Hayes last night while I went to my Junior League meeting. Dustin let me know that he played guitar for Hayes, and that he loved it :)

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks:

Happy Birthday, Dustin!

Dustin turned 29 this weekend! I can't believe he is already 29, he was 20 when we started dating. How time flies when you are having fun! We had a nice relaxing day with homemade pumpkin pancakes and cinnamon syrup for breakfast (thanks pinterest!!), and watched a lot of football. Dustin informed me this was the most low key birthday he has ever had. Guess thats what happens when you have a baby :)

We are looking forward to heading to the ranch this weekend with Hayes. I am a little nervous about the car trip with a baby, but hopefully everything will go smoothly. Dustin and I both are really looking forward to deer hunting.

I want to give a big thank you to our friend Lindsey for taking pictures of our little family this weekend, they turned out fabulous! I can't wait to send out our Christmas cards this year :) We will cherish these pictures forever!

Here is the recipe for the pumpkin pancakes, I really liked them:

Ingredients:1 cup flour
1 1/2 Tbs brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1 egg
1 Tbs vegetable oil
1 Tbs vinegar

Directions:
In a bowl, mix together the milk, pumpkin, egg, oil and vinegar. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon and salt. Stir into the pumpkin mixture just enough to combine.

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

Cinnamon Syrup:
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 Tablespoons all purpose flour
1tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup water

Stir all ingredients together in a small saucepan. Over medium heat, stir occasionally until boiling. Let it boil for a few minutes while stirring until it thickens. Remove from heat and set aside until needed.

One month - already?

I can't believe it, Hayes is already a month old! Time has flown by!! He is still sleeping for a good portion of the day, but is staying awake for longer period of time - sometimes up to two hours. We have started going on daily walks while Dustin is at work - not sure if Hayes likes them or not, I cover his face with a hat to keep the sun out of his eyes.

First real bath!

Hayes is 3 weeks

This week Hayes got to meet Dustin's parents - Nana and Papa. They were very excited to get to meet their newest grandson. Connie stayed all week and was a big help. I am not looking forward to her leaving!

Hayes is becoming more alert each day. He now turns his head and looks up at us while talking. He also smiles often, I know it is most likely due to gas, but I like to think he is smiling at me! J Poor little guy always has the hiccups – it is really pitiful to watch.

Dustin and I went on our first date tonight since Hayes was born. We went to a new local bar called The Blue Door for happy hour. A big thank you to Connie for watching Hayes and letting us leave for a little while.

Here are a few pictures from the week:

It cracks me up that he throws his hands up like this while sleeping - future football ref??

There was a photographer at the hospital that took a few pictures of Hayes. Here are a few of my favorites:

2 weeks old :)

I did not take as many pictures this week; therefore I do not have very many good ones to choose from. My goal this next week is to take a lot more pictures of the little guy to share. This past week Hayes has really started getting fussy when he is tired. He really fights trying to go sleep and cries and swings his little arms like he is swimming. He usually ends up hitting himself in the face and getting angry. Here are a few from this past week:

Tummy time again? But Mom, you know I hate it!

Dad, what do you mean you want to sleep? It's play time!
